Gergaoon is one of the most joyful celebration in Ramadan especially for kids in Bahrain. Of course with all the candies and the treats they are going to get at that night. Gergaoon is celebrated in Bahrain and the other gulf countries at the 15th night of Ramadan. Children will wander from house to house while signing the traditional song of Gergaoon to ask for Gergaoon treats. The streets at capital Manama, Muharraq city and all villages in Bahrain will be decorated with colorful lights and decorations that take you to the spirit of the celebration.

Beyond the festival you can indicate the generosity of people and community correlation.

Our tour with our foreigner friends this year was in Manama , the atmosphere was so vivid, houses’ doors are already open welcoming everyone, children roaming around houses with their colorful customs . Other people tend also to distribute different kind of food to anyone attending the celebration. Tables are placed on the streets, different types of food and sweets are presented. The most crowded street is “Imam Hussain Avenue” you should not miss it when attending Gergaoon in Manama.

As a matter of fact the habit of giving food for free is a habit that Bahrainis inherited generation after generation, people are used to give away food in traditional and religious events both the happy and the sad ones.
